Accessibility

At Bingley Pride, we’re committed to making our events inclusive and accessible for everyone.

Bingley Pride takes place across a number of venues, primarily Bingley Arts Centre and local nightclub Mavericks. There will also be a march through Bingley, following a predetermined route.

As part of our aim to be an inclusive Pride, we want to provide as much information as we can around accessibility

March Accessibility

The Bingley Pride march follows a mostly flat and even route from Myrtle Park to the Arts Centre. This route includes one small but steep hill. The march will last approximately 30-40 minutes.

It is likely to be loud, with multiple noise sources. As the march is outside in the daytime, visibility and terrain will be dependent on the weather.

Service animals and other well-behaved dogs are welcome to take part in the march.

Market Square Accessibility

Pride will include stalls in the historic Bingley Market Square. The square has level access, with a level surface at the top. There is also step access available, about 15 steps of medium height without a handrail. The slope does bypass the steps.

There will be multiple food and drink options available in and around the area, as well as toilets in the nearby Bingley Arts Centre.

The Market Square is two minutes’ walk from Bingley Train Station and less than five minutes’ walk from multiple bus stops. There are car parks on Queen Street, Victoria Street, and Main Street.

Bingley Arts Centre Accessibility

Bingley Arts Centre, where most of the indoor aspects of Bingley Pride will take place, is mostly on ground level.

The ground floor is accessible via automatic double door, and contains an accessible gender-neutral toilet as well as traditional binary loos.

The Theatre Upstairs is on the first floor, and is where our 18+ performances will take place, as well as some smaller events in the run up to Bingley Pride. There is lift access to this space and an accessible gender-neutral toilet on this floor, while traditional binary loos can be accessed down a flight of stairs.

ADUK accredited assistance dogs are welcome with formal ID.

There are two blue badge parking spaces in the Arts Centre car park, and more car parks on Main Street, Queen Street, and Victoria Street. Bingley Arts Centre is two minutes’ walk from Bingley Train Station and less than five minutes’ walk from multiple bus stops.

More information about Bingley Arts Centre accessibility can be found through AccessAble.

Bingley Mavericks Accessibility

Bingley Mavericks is the primary nightlife partner of Bingley Pride. The main entrance is accessed via four steps with a handrail, however there is a side door which is accessible by one step and a fire door which can be accessed via a temporary ramp, although it should be noted that this ramp can be at an awkward angle and is not suitable for electric wheelchairs.

As a nightclub, Mavericks often has very loud music and flashing lights.

There are gendered bathrooms and an accessible bathroom. This does not require a radar key to use.

Mavericks is two minutes’ walk from Bingley Train Station and less than five minutes’ walk from multiple bus stops. There are car parks on Queen Street, Victoria Street, and Main Street.

Bingley Pride Events Accessibility

On the day of Bingley Pride we will have a sign language interpreter, however we cannot guarantee this interpreter will be present at all fundraising events leading up to Bingley Pride. Events with a sign language interpreter present will be marked on our events page and our socials.

Some performances and events will include flashing lights and loud music, which we will warn about prior to the performance and events beginning. We will make audiences aware of any trigger warnings a performance may have.

If you require a carer to accompany you to any of our paid events, one carer ticket can be made available for free for disabled attendees.

If a Pride event takes place at a different venue to the ones listed on this page, we will post accessibility information for that venue on our Facebook and Instagram
